The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Hour is drawing near, and the moon is split (in two). 1 And if they see a miracle they turn aside and say: Transient magic. 2 They denied (the Truth) and followed their own lusts. Yet everything will come to a decision 3 And indeed the news which had a lot of deterrence, came to them. 4 Extensive wisdom - but warning does not avail [them]. 5 So turn away from them. When on the Day the crier calls to the painful business, 6 They will come out of the graves with downcast eyes like an expanding swarm of locusts. 7 running with outstretched necks to the Caller. The unbelievers shall say, 'This is a hard day!' 8 ۞ Before them the People of Noah rejected (their messenger): they rejected Our servant, and said, "Here is one possessed!", and he was driven out. 9 Then he called on his Lord: "I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!" 10 Then opened We the gates of heaven with pouring water 11 and We caused the earth to burst with gushing springs: so that the waters met for a purpose which had been decreed. 12 And We carried him on a [construction of] planks and nails, 13 Sailing in front of Our sight; as a reward for the sake of one who was rejected. 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 16 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember! 17 Ad treated (the truth) as a lie, so how (great) was My punishment and My warning! 18 We sent a raging wind against them on a day of continuous calamity. 19 plucking up men as if they were stumps of uprooted palm-trees. 20 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 21 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran: is there anyone who would receive admonition? 22
