The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 Taught the Quran. 2 He created man. 3 and has taught him articulate speech. 4 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning. 5 And the herbs and the trees - both (alike) prostrate in adoration. 6 He raised the heavens and set up everything in balance, 7 so that you [too, O men,] might never transgress the measure [of what is right]: 8 weigh, therefore, [your deeds] with equity, and cut not the measure short! 9 And the earth has He spread out for all living beings, 10 Therein are fruits and palm trees with sheaths, 11 the grain in the blade; and aromatic herbs. 12 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 13 He has created man, from dry ringing clay, like the potter"s, 14 and jinn from the many colored flames of fire. 15 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 16 Lord of the East and Lord of the West. 17 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 18 He has made the two oceans meet each other, 19 Between them is a barrier which they cannot pass. 20 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you then deny? 21 From the two oceans comes pearls and coral. 22 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 23 His are the ships, towering on the sea like mountains. 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
