The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining face to face. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
