The tribe of Thamud also rejected Our warnings: 23 For they said: "A man! Alone from among us, that we are to follow? Truly, then we should be in error and distress or madness!" 24 "Is it that the Message is sent to him, of all people amongst us? Nay, he is a liar, an insolent one!" 25 [We said to him] "Tomorrow they shall know who is the boastful liar, 26 Indeed, We are sending the she-camel as trial for them, so watch them and be patient. 27 And let them know that the water [of their wells] is to be divided between them, with each share of water equitably apportioned." 28 Then they called their fellow, and he took the sword and hamstrung her, 29 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 30 We sent a single blast against them, and they were reduced to husks of a decayed fence. 31 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 32 The people of Lot denied the warning. 33 Verily We! We sent upon them a gravel-storm save the household of Lut; them We delivered at early dawn. 34 as a favour from Us. Thus do We reward those who give thanks. 35 And certainly he warned them of Our violent seizure, but they obstinately disputed the warning. 36 They demanded that he turn over his guests to them. We struck their faces, blinded them and said, "Suffer Our torment of which you were warned". 37 And certainly a lasting chastisement overtook them in the morning. 38 “So taste My punishment, and My warnings!” 39 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 40
