The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
