Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Nay! I swear by the day of resurrection. 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching soul. 2 Does man assume that We will never assemble his bones? 3 Surely We are able to reform even his finger-tips. 4 But man desires to continue in sin. 5 'When will the Day of Resurrection be' he asks, 6 but when the sight is dazed 7 And the moon is buried in darkness. 8 and the sun and the moon are brought together, 9 on that Day will man say: “Whither the refuge?” 10 By no means! No place of safety! 11 With your Lord alone shall on that day be the place of rest. 12 Upon that day man shall be told his former deeds and his latter; 13 Rather, man, against himself, will be a witness, 14 Although he may put forth his pleas. 15 Move not thy tongue therewith that thou mayest hasten therewith. 16 Lo! upon Us (resteth) the putting together thereof and the reading thereof. 17 When We recite it, follow its recitation (by Us). 18 and then, behold, it will be for Us to make its meaning clear. 19 None except you, O disbelievers – you love what you have, the fleeting one. 20 and neglect the life to come. 21 Some faces, that Day, will beam (in brightness and beauty);- 22 Looking toward their Lord. 23 And on that day some faces will be ghastly. 24 Knowing that they will be subjected to a torment that breaks the backs. 25 Yes indeed, when the soul will reach up to the throat. 26 and it is said: 'Who is a healing chanter' 27 And the dying one is certain that it is the [time of] separation 28 And the leg is wound about the leg, 29 on that Day he will be driven towards your Lord! 30
