The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
There was certainly a time when there was no mention of the human being. 1 Indeed We have created man from mixed semen; in order to test him – We therefore made him hearing, knowing. 2 Lo! We have shown him the way, whether he be grateful or disbelieving. 3 Indeed, for the unbelievers We have prepared chains, fetters and a Blazing (Fire). 4 The virtuous shall drink from a cup tempered with camphor water. 5 a source [of bliss] whereof God's servants shall drink, seeing it flow in a flow abundant. 6 They fulfil their pledges, and fear a day the evil of which is widespread. 7 they give food, despite their love for it, to the poor and orphans and captives, 8 saying, "We feed you for the sake of God alone, we seek neither recompense nor thanks from you. 9 Surely we fear from our Lord a stern, distressful day. 10 So Allah saved them from the evil of that Day, and gave them Nadratan (a light of beauty) and joy. 11 And reward them, because they were patient, with garden and silk, 12 [They will be] reclining therein on adorned couches. They will not see therein any [burning] sun or [freezing] cold. 13 And the shade thereof is close upon them, and the bunches of fruit thereof will hang low within their reach. 14 Rounds of silver cups and silver beakers, looking like glass, will be presented upon them. 15 Also there will be crystal clear goblets of silver containing the exact measure of drink which they desire. 16 And therein they shall be given to drink of a cup whereof the admixture will be ginger. 17 Which is a spring in Paradise called Salsabeel. 18 ۞ There boys of everlasting youth shall go about attending them: when you see them, you would think that they are scattered pearls. 19 And when you look there [in Paradise], you will see pleasure and great dominion. 20 Upon them there will be garments of green silk, rich brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure beverage to drink. 21 Verily this is for you by way of recompense, and your endeavour hath been accepted. 22
