I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 and the dawn when it is white, 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 A warning to mankind,- 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 [On the Day of Judgment,] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever [evil] he has wrought 38 Save those who will stand on the right hand. 39 In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, 40 about the guilty ones: 41 What led you into the Scorching Fire? 42 They will answer: We were not of those who prayed 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who entered into vain discourses. 45 "And used to deny the Day of Justice." 46 Until the certainty of death had come upon us. 47 Then there will not profit them intercesion of the interceders. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 like startled wild donkeys 50 running away from a lion? 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books. 52 Nay, verily. They fear not the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily. Lo! this is an Admonishment. 54 so whoever wills shall remember it. 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
