The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
