Did the unbelievers (who do not accept the teaching of the Prophet) not realize that the heavens and the earth were one solid mass, then We tore them apart, and We made every living being out of water? Will they, then, not believe (that We created all this)? 30 And We placed firm mountains on earth lest it should sway with them, and We made wide paths in them that they may find their way; 31 And We have made the heaven a roof, safe and well guarded. Yet they turn away from its signs (i.e. sun, moon, winds, clouds, etc.). 32 It is He who created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon; each floating in an orbit. 33 And before you, We did not appoint on earth a never-ending life for any human; will they, if you depart, become immortal? 34 Every soul has to experience the taste of death. We test you with both hardships and blessings. In the end you will all return to Us. 35 When the unbelievers behold thee, they take thee only for mockery: 'Ha, is this the one who makes mention of your gods?' Yet they in the Remembrance of the All-merciful are unbelievers. 36 Man was created of haste. I will show you My signs, so do not impatiently urge Me. 37 But they [who reject My messages are wont to] ask, "When is that promise [of God's judgment] to be fulfilled? [Answer this, O you who believe in it,] if you are men of truth!" 38 Would that the unbelievers knew that no one would protect their faces and backs against the fire, nor they would be helped. 39 Nay, but [the Last Hour] will come upon them of a sudden, and will stupefy them: and they will be unable to avert it, and neither wilt they be allowed any respite. 40 And indeed the Noble Messengers before you were mocked at, but their mockery ruined the mockers themselves. 41
