And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They answered: "There are some idols that we worship and are devoted to them with constancy." 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 It is He who gives me food and drink 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 And He Who shall cause me to die, and then shall quicken me. 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 And it will be said to them, “Where are those whom you used to worship?” 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers! 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
