Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 Then by oath of those which carry the burdens. 2 and the smooth runners 3 And those who distribute (blessings) by command, 4 surely that you are promised is true, 5 And the judgment must most surely come about. 6 By the heaven full of paths, 7 surely you are deeply at variance [as to what to believe] -- 8 Deluded away from the Qur'an is he who is deluded. 9 Perish will those who just guess and speculate, 10 Those who have forgotten in a state of intoxication. 11 They ask: When is the Day of Judgment? 12 It will be the Day when they shall be scourged by the Fire 13 "Taste your trial. This is what you sought to hasten." 14 [But,] behold, the God-conscious will find themselves amid gardens and springs, 15 Taking that which their Lord giveth them; for lo! aforetime they were doers of good; 16 Little of the night would they slumber, 17 praying at dawn for God's pardon, 18 And the beggar and the destitute had a share in their wealth. 19 On the earth, and in yourselves, 20 And within yourselves. Can you not perceive? 21 And in the heaven is your provision, and that which you are promised. 22 And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth, it is the truth, even as (it is true) that ye speak. 23
