The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the star when it sets: 1 Your companion does not err, nor does he go astray; 2 Nor doth he speak of (his own) desire. 3 This is naught but a revelation revealed, 4 something that a very powerful one has imparted to him, 5 One of soundness. And he rose to [his] true form 6 And he is in the highest part of the horizon. 7 Then he drew near and hung above suspended, 8 So the distance between the Spectacle and the beloved was only two arms' length, or even less. 9 Thus He revealed unto His bondman whatsoever He revealed. 10 The heart was not untrue in (making him see) what he saw. 11 what, will you dispute with him what he sees? 12 And indeed, he saw him a second time 13 by the lote-tree at the farthest boundary, 14 Near which is the garden, the place to be resorted to. 15 When that which shroudeth did enshroud the lote-tree, 16 (His) sight never swerved, nor did it go wrong! 17 and he certainly saw some of the greatest Signs of His Lord. 18 Have you considered Lat and 'Uzza, 19 And Manat, the third, the last? 20 What, have you males, and He females? 21 That indeed is a division most unfair! 22 They are but names which you have named, you and your fathers, for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow but a guess and that which they themselves desire, whereas there has surely come to them the Guidance from their Lord! 23 Or shall man have what he wishes? 24 Allah's is the last and the first. 25
