The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 like hidden pearls, 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 for the people of the right hand 38
