Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ THE CONCRETE REALITY. 1 What is the concrete reality? 2 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the reality is! 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 the Thamud were destroyed by a terrible storm of thunder and lightning; 5 And the 'Ad were destroyed by the furious cold blast of roaring wind 6 He forced it upon them with strength, consecutively for seven nights and eight days – so you would see those people overthrown in it, like trunks of date palms fallen down. 7 Do you see any trace of them? 8 And Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and those before him, and the cities overthrown [the towns of the people of [Lout (Lot)] committed sin, 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. 10 Verily! When the water rose beyond its limits [Nuh's (Noah) Flood], We carried you (mankind) in the floating [ship that was constructed by Nuh (Noah)]. 11 That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it. 12 When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be removed from their places, and crushed with a single crushing, 14 then, on that day, the Terror shall come to pass, 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for it will that Day be flimsy, 16 and the angels will stand on the sides, with eight of them bearing aloft the Throne of your Lord on that Day. 17 On that day you shall be exposed to view-- no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say: Lo! read my book: 19 Certainly I thought that I should encounter my reckoning.' 20 So he shall have an agreeable life 21 In a lofty Paradise, 22 The fruits of which are near at hand: 23 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past." 24 But as for him whose record shall be placed in his left hand, he will exclaim: "Oh, would that I had never been shown this my record, 25 Nor that I knew my reckoning! 26 "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! 27 Of no avail to me is all that I have [ever] possessed, 28 “All my power has vanished.” 29 Seize him and fetter him, 30 then cast him in the Fire, 31 "Further, make him march in a chain, whereof the length is seventy cubits! 32 Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, 33 and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: 34 That is why he has no friend today, 35 and the only food he has is filth 36 which only the sinners eat". 37
