And recite to them the news of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 “Or do they benefit you or harm you?” 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 you and your fathers, the elders? 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 and place me among those who shall inherit the garden of bliss! 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 “The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons.” 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 They will then be thrown into Hell with those who had gone astray 94 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 "'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds; 98 yet they who have seduced us [into believing in you] are the truly guilty ones! 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 no loyal friend. 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
