The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the great tidings! 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 Living therein for ages. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
