The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 shall call for destruction 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
