The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Terror descends 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 And spreading shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
