The 'Ad (people) rejected the messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 124 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 125 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 126 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 127 "Do ye build a landmark on every high place to amuse yourselves? 128 and raise strong mansions as if you were to live forever? 129 When you assault, you assault like tyrants! 130 So fear God, and obey me; 131 fear Him who has aided you with all that you know -- 132 “He aided you with cattle and sons.” 133 "And gardens and springs. 134 Verily I fear for you the torment of a Mighty Day. 135 They said, "Whether you preach to us or not, 136 That is nothing but a habit of the ancients, 137 We will not be subjected to any chastisement." 138 So they belied him, so We destroyed them. Surely, in that there is a sign; yet most of them do not believe. 139 Surely, your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140
