Whatever affliction may visit you is for what you own hands have earned; and He pardons much. 30 You cannot challenge God on earth and you will have no one besides Him as your guardian or helper. 31 And of His signs are the ships in the sea like landmarks. 32 Had He wanted, He could have stopped the wind and let the ships remain motionless on the surface of the sea, in this there is evidence (of the Truth) for all those who are patient and grateful, 33 or else He may cause them to perish because of what they have wrought; and [withal,] He pardons much. 34 And [that is so] those who dispute concerning Our signs may know that for them there is no place of escape. 35 So whatever thing you are given, that is only a provision of this world's life, and what is with Allah is better and more lasting for those who believe and rely on their Lord. 36 And those who avoid heinous sins and indecencies, and when they are wroth forgive. 37 And those who respond to their Lord and keep up prayer, and their rule is to take counsel among themselves, and who spend out of what We have given them. 38 and who, when insolence visits them, do help themselves -- 39 The retribution of a harmful deed is the harm equal to it; so whoever forgives and makes amends, so his reward is upon Allah; indeed He does not befriend the unjust. 40 And whosoever helps himself after he has been wronged -- against them there is no way. 41 The blame is only against those who oppress men and wrong-doing and insolently transgress beyond bounds through the land, defying right and justice: for such there will be a penalty grievous. 42 And verily whoso is patient and forgiveth - lo! that, verily, is (of) the steadfast heart of things. 43
