Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Ha Mim. 1 By the clear Book, 2 We sent it down during a Blessed Night: for We (ever) wish to warn (against Evil). 3 Therein every wise affair is made distinct, 4 A command from Us; surely We are the senders (of apostles), 5 A Mercy from your Lord, He is the Hearer, the Knower. 6 the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them - if you could but grasp it with inner certainty! 7 There is no god but He; He gives life and causes death, your Lord and the Lord of your fathers of yore. 8 Yet they are lost in doubt and play. 9 So wait thou the day whereon the heaven will bring forth a manifest smoke: 10 enveloping people. That will be a grievous scourge. 11 Our Lord! remove from us the torment, verily we shall become believers. 12 How shall they be reminded, and there came to them an Apostle making clear (the truth), 13 and they turned away, saying, "He is a trained and insane person". 14 'Behold, We are removing the chastisement a little; behold, you revert!' 15 On the day when We shall seize them with the greater seizure, (then) in truth We shall punish. 16 ۞ And We had already tried before them the people of Pharaoh, and there came to them a noble messenger, 17 [Saying], "Render to me the servants of Allah. Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger," 18 Do not consider yourselves above God. I shall show you a manifest authority (in support of my truthfulness). 19 And verily I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord lest ye stone me. 20 And if you do not believe me, then leave me' 21 Then he called upon his Lord: These are a guilty people. 22 [Allah said], "Then set out with My servants by night. Indeed, you are to be pursued. 23 And leave the sea becalmed; they are a drowned host.' 24 They left how many gardens and fountains, 25 And fields and stately mansions, 26 and good things in which they took delight. 27 That is what We did; and We made another nation their heirs. 28 So the heavens and the earth did not weep for them, and they were not given respite. 29
