Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 cushions ranged, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
