The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 Yes indeed, man is surely rebellious. 6 for he believes himself to be self-sufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 Have you seen him who forbids 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 or if he commands others to maintain piety!? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 Nay, if he desist not, We shall most surely drag him down upon his forehead 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We too shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
