When the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: "You are people I do not know." 62 "We have come to you with news," they said, "of what your people doubt; 63 "We have brought to thee that which is inevitably due, and assuredly we tell the truth. 64 So set out with your family in a watch of the night, and keep yourself behind them, and no one of you may turn around, and keep going ahead as you have been commanded." 65 And We made plain the case to him, that the root of them (who did wrong) was to be cut at early morn. 66 And the people of the city came, rejoicing at the news (of new arrivals). 67 He said: 'These are my guests; do not shame me. 68 Fear Allah and do not disgrace me' 69 They replied: 'Have we not forbidden you (the people of) the worlds' 70 Lot said, "These are my daughters if you want them." 71 By thy life, in their intoxication they were wandering bewildered. 72 and thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at sunrise. 73 And We made the upside there of downwards, and We rained on them stones of baked clay. 74 Surely, in that there are signs for those who contemplate. 75 And the (cities were) right on the high-road. 76 Indeed in this are signs for the believers. 77 The people of the Wood were also surely wrongdoers. 78 So We chastised them. The desolate locations of both communities lie on a well-known highway. 79
