Thamud denied the warning 23 For they said: "A man! Alone from among us, that we are to follow? Truly, then we should be in error and distress or madness!" 24 "Is it that the Message is sent to him, of all people amongst us? Nay, he is a liar, an insolent one!" 25 [And God said:] "On the morrow they will come to know who the boastful liar is! 26 We are sending to them as a trial, a shecamel, so watch them and have patience. 27 And inform them that the water is shared between them; every share of the water shall be regulated. 28 But they called their commander, who seized and hamstrung her. 29 Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 30 For We sent against them a single Mighty Blast, and they became like the dry stubble used by one who pens cattle. 31 And indeed, We have made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 32 The people of Lout (Lot) belied the warnings. 33 Verily We! We sent upon them a gravel-storm save the household of Lut; them We delivered at early dawn. 34 as a favour from Us. Thus do We reward those who give thanks. 35 Lot warned them of Our punishment, but they disputed the warnings -- 36 They lusted after his guests, so We put out their eyes (and said): "Taste My punishment and My commination." 37 And there came upon them by morning an abiding punishment. 38 'Now, taste My punishment and My warnings' 39 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 40
