The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 Who will be honoured 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 facing one another. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 and serried acacias, 29 and spreading shade 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
