Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the night when it draws a veil, 1 and the day in splendour 2 By Him Who hath created the male and the female, 3 Verily your endeavour is diverse. 4 As for he who gives and fears Allah 5 and believes in the finest, 6 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss. 7 But he who does not give and is unconcerned, 8 and rejects what is right, 9 We shall facilitate the path to affliction 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 Lo! Ours it is (to give) the guidance 12 and, behold, Ours is [the dominion over] the life to come as well as [over] this earlier part [of your life]: 13 I have now warned you of the Blazing Fire, 14 None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones 15 Who gives the lie (to the truth) and turns (his) back. 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
