Hath there come unto thee the story of Ibrahim's honoured guests? 24 When they entered upon him and said, "[We greet you with] peace." He answered, "[And upon you] peace, [you are] a people unknown. 25 Then he went back to his family and brought a fat roasted calf 26 And placing it before them said: "Won't you eat?" 27 [And when he saw that the guests would not eat,] he became apprehensive of them; [but] they said, "Fear not" - and gave him the glad tiding of [the birth of] a son who would be endowed with deep knowledge. 28 His wife came forward, crying and beating her face, saying, "I am an old barren woman!" 29 They said, "Thus has said your Lord; indeed, He is the Wise, the Knowing." 30 ۞ Abraham said: “Envoys (of Allah), what is your errand?” 31 They said, "Indeed, we have been sent to a people of criminals 32 so that we bring down stones of clay upon them 33 They are transgressors in the presence of your Lord". 34 So We brought forth such believers as were in it, 35 We found in it only one household of true believers -- 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 AND IN [the story of Pharaoh and] Moses, too, [We left the same message: for] when We sent him unto Pharaoh with [Our] manifest authority, 38 In response, he turned away along with his army and said, “He is a magician or a madman.” 39 We therefore seized him and his army and threw them into the sea, while he was blaming himself. 40 There is another sign in the [tribe of] 'Ad, when We sent against them a life-destroying wind 41 that left nothing it came upon, except that it was ashes. 42 And in the Thamud (was another Sign): Behold, they were told, "Enjoy (your brief day) for a little while!" 43 Then they disdained the command of their Lord; wherefore the bolt laid hold of them even while they looked on. 44 So they were not able to rise up, nor could they defend themselves- 45 And the people of Nuh We destroyed aforetime; verily they were a people transgressing. 46
