No! By the moon 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 By the morning when it brighteneth. 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 As a warning unto men, 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 except the people of the right hand 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 Concerning the culprits: 41 'What caused you to be thrust into the Scorching (Fire)' 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 we indulged in vain arguments along with those who indulged in them; 45 and belied the Day of Recompense 46 Until there came to us the certainty." 47 So no intercession will avail them. 48 Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away 49 As though they were asses startled. 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Indeed, everyone of them desires to have sheets of revelations unfolded before them -- 52 This will certainly never be the case! In fact, they are not afraid of the Day of Judgment. 53 Nay! it is surely an admonition. 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 But none will keep it in remembrance except as Allah wills: He is the Lord of Righteousness, and the Lord of Forgiveness. 56
