The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 So let man look - from what is he created. 5 He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, 9 Then he shall have no power nor any helper. 10 So I call to witness the rain-producing sky, 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
Almighty God's Truth.
