Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In an elevated garden, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 cushions ranged, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
