The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
THE HOUR HAS come and split is the moon. 1 And when they see a sign, they turn away and say, “Just a customary magic!” 2 And they call (it) a lie, and follow their low desires; and every affair has its appointed term. 3 And indeed the news which had a lot of deterrence, came to them. 4 far-reaching wisdom [was held out to them]: but [since] all warnings have been of no avail, 5 So (O Muhammad SAW) withdraw from them. The Day that the caller will call (them) to a terrible thing. 6 With looks downcast they will come forth, from the tombs, as though they were locusts scattered abroad. 7 Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day." 8 ۞ Before these, the people of Nooh denied and they belied Our bondman and said, “He is a madman” and rebuffed him. 9 So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." 10 Thereupon We opened the gates of the sky for water to pour down, 11 And We made the earth break forth with springs; so that the water met for an affair already decreed. 12 But We bore him on a (vessel made) of planks and oakum, 13 Sailing in front of Our sight; as a reward for the sake of one who was rejected. 14 And We left it as a sign. Is there anyone who will be warned? 15 So how did My punishment turn out, and My threats? 16 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished? 17 The people of 'Ad too rejected the truth. How terrible was My punishment and My warning. 18 We sent a tumultuous wind against them on a day of unremitting misfortune, 19 Tearing men away as if they were the trunks of palm-trees torn up. 20 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 21 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 22
