He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And whereas he fears, 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 And dense gardens, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 laughing and joyous 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
