The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
