The Romans (Al-Room)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Mim 1 The Romans have been defeated 2 In the neighbouring land. But having been conquered they will conquer 3 in a few years. To Allah belongs the Command before and after, and on that Day the believers will rejoice 4 In the help of God. He helps whom He will; He is all-mighty, ever-merciful. 5 This is the promise of God. God does not ignore His promise, but many people do not know. 6 They know an outward part of this life, but of the Everlasting Life they are inattentive. 7 Do they not reflect within themselves: Allah did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them two but with truth, and (for) an appointed term? And most surely most of the people are deniers of the meeting of their Lord. 8 Have they not travelled through the earth that they may observe what was the end of their predecessors who were far mightier and tilled the land and built upon it more than these have ever built? And Allah's Messengers came to them with Clear Signs. It was not Allah Who wronged them, but it is they who wronged themselves. 9 The end of the evil-doers was terrible, for they had rejected the revelations of God and mocked them. 10
