Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By those that winnow with a winnowing 1 Then by oath of those which carry the burdens. 2 And those that flow with ease and gentleness; 3 And those who distribute (it) by command, 4 Undoubtedly, the promise you are given is surely true. 5 And verily Judgment and Justice must indeed come to pass. 6 I swear by the heaven full of ways. 7 your ideas are confused. 8 he is turned away from [the truth] who is destined to be so turned away. 9 They but destroy themselves, they who are given to guessing at what they cannot ascertain 10 who are dazed in perplexity 11 They ask: “When will the Day of Judgement be?” 12 The day they will be burnt in the Fire, 13 (and be told): “Taste your ordeal! This is what you were seeking to hasten.” 14 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs (in the Paradise), 15 Taking that which their Lord will vouchsafe unto hem. Verily they have been before that well-doers. 16 They slept but a little at night, 17 And in the hour of early dawn, they (were found) praying for Forgiveness; 18 and [would assign] in all that they possessed a due share unto such as might ask [for help] and such as might suffer privation. 19 And in the earth are portents for those whose faith is sure. 20 and also in your own selves. Do you not see? 21 And in heaven is [the source of] your sustenance [on earth] and [of] all that you are promised [for your life after death]: 22 By the Lord of the heaven and the earth, it is certainly the truth. It is as true as your ability to speak. 23
