The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ AR-RAHMAN 1 It is He Who has taught the Qur'an. 2 He created man. 3 and He taught him speech. 4 The sun and moon revolve to a computation; 5 And the stars and trees prostrate. 6 He raised the heaven on high and set the scale. 7 That you may not be inordinate in respect of the measure. 8 Always measure with justice and do not give short measure. 9 He positioned the earth for all the creatures: 10 with fruit thereon, and palm trees with sheathed clusters [of dates,] 11 And grain covered with husk, and fragrant flowers. 12 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord, will ye twain belie? 13 He has created man from dry, rotten clay like the potter's, 14 whereas the invisible beings He has created out of a confusing flame of fire. 15 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 16 Lord of the two Easts, and Lord of the two Wests! 17 Which of the powers of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 18 He has let forth the two seas, they meet together, 19 Between them is a barrier, which they do not overrun. 20 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 21 Pearls and corals come forth from both of them. 22 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 23 His too are the ships that run, raised up in the sea like land-marks. 24 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 25
