The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And ye are classes three. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 on lavish couches 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 And clustered plantains, 29 and shade extended, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 And have made them virgins. 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
