The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those who drag forth to destruction, 1 and those that blow gently, 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 [and] their eyes downcast... 9 They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? 10 even after we are fragmented bones' 11 They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); 21 Then he quickly turned his back. 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
