The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
