The 'Aad belied the sent ones. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 124 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 127 Do you build on every height a monument? Vain is it that you do: 128 And you make strong fortresses that perhaps you may 129 When you assault, you assault like tyrants. 130 "Now fear Allah, and obey me. 131 fear Him who has aided you with all that you know -- 132 He has given you abundance of cattle and children 133 gardens and fountains. 134 "Verily, I fear for you the torment of a Great Day." 135 They replied: 'It is the same to us whether you admonish or whether you are not one of the admonishers. 136 That is nothing but a habit of the ancients, 137 And we are not to be punished." 138 So they rejected him, and We destroyed them. Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 139 Verily your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 140
