The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
