The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ NEAR HAS COME the reckoning for men, but they turn away in remissness. 1 Whenever there comes unto them any new reminder from their Sustainer, they but listen to it with playful amusement, 2 Their minds are lost in frivolous pastimes; and the evil-doers discuss secretly: "Is he not but only a man like you? Then why are you taken in by magic seeingly?" 3 The Lord said, "Tell them (Muhammad), 'My Lord knows all that is said in the heavens and the earth. He is All-hearing and All-knowing ". 4 Nay, say they, (these are but) muddled dreams; nay, he hath but invented it; nay, he is but a poet. Let him bring us a portent even as those of old (who were Allah's messengers) were sent (with portents). 5 Not a [single] city which We destroyed believed before them, so will they believe? 6 And We sent not before you, [O Muhammad], except men to whom We revealed [the message], so ask the people of the message if you do not know. 7 We had not made them such bodies that would not eat any food nor were they immortal. 8 Then We made Our promise good to them and delivered whomsoever We pleased, and destroyed the transgressors. 9 And assuredly We have sent down unto you a Book wherein is admonition for you; will ye not then reflect? 10
