Nay, by the Moon 32 By the night when it departs. 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 This is but one of the mighty (portents), 35 A warning to mankind, 36 alike to every one of you, who want to go forward or hang back. 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 except the Companions of the Right. 39 who will be in Paradise 40 Of evil-doers: 41 "What has caused you to enter Hell?" 42 They shall say: We were not of those who prayed; 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 “And used to dwell on evil matters with those who think evilly.” 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 Till death overtook us. 47 The intercession of the intercessors will be of no benefit to them. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 As they were frightened asses 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 Yea, everyone of them claims that he [himself] ought to have been given revelations unfolded! 52 Nay! But they fear not the Hereafter (from Allah's punishment). 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 they will only take heed if God so wills: He is the Lord who is worthy to be feared: the Lord of forgiveness. 56
