He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 you pay him no heed. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 exalted, purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 Olives and dates, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
God the Almighty always says the truth.
