The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 arise and warn, 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 And banish all trepidation. 5 And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase, 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 that will surely be a hard day, 9 and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone, (to deal) with the (creature) whom I created (bare and) alone!- 11 and to whom I have granted resources vast, 12 And sons present by his side. 13 and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), 14 Yet is he greedy-that I should add (yet more);- 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 yea, he destroys himself, the way he meditates! 20 Then he considered [again]; 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 Then turned he back, and grew stiff-necked. 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; 28 It scorches people's skin 29 Above it are nineteen guards. 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire. We have specified their number only as a trial for those who are bent on denying the truth, so that those who were given the Book might gain in certainty, and those who believe might increase in faith -- and so that neither those who have been given the Scripture nor the believers might have any doubts, and that those sick at heart and those who deny the truth might ask, "What does God mean by this parable?" In this way, God lets go astray whom He wills, and guides whom He wills. And none knows the forces of your Lord but He. This is but a Reminder for man. 31
