The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
