Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 And cups put in place 14 and arranged cushions 15 and carpets spread out. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
