The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
I swear by the sun and its brilliance, 1 And [by] the moon when it follows it 2 and by the day as it displays the sun's glory, 3 By the Night as it conceals it; 4 And the heaven and Him Who made it, 5 by the earth and that (Power) which spread it out 6 By the soul and Him Who propertioned it, 7 And inspired it [with discernment of] its wickedness and its righteousness, 8 He who nourishes it will surely be successful, 9 And he has failed who instills it [with corruption]. 10 The tribe of Thamud denied with rebellion. 11 What time the greatest wretch of them rose up. 12 the Messenger of Allah said to them: '(This is) the shecamel of Allah, let her drink' 13 But they cried him lies, and hamstrung her, so their Lord crushed them for their sin, and leveled them: 14 He does not fear the result (of their destruction). 15
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
End of Surah: The Sun (Al-Shams). Sent down in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
